Hey guys, I know its been a while but I promise I'll write soon- The IB is killing me...

Batam!

Once again it's been a while since I last posted. Right now I'm in Batam, an Indonesian island near Singapore. I took a flight from KL to Singapore and then an hour long ferry to Batam centre. As we were already tired, my dad, sister and I just chilled in the sports lounge for a while and played a few games of darts. After that we went to the Nagoya mall and spent hours walking around and shopping.

Today is our only full day on this island and we're spending it at the watermark possibly jet skiing, kayaking, banana boating (?) and driving some all terrain vehicles!

The End Of Summer

As of now, there are 11 days, 20 hours and 28 minutes before school resumes.

Summer is going by pretty fast.

Right now I'm experiencing a mix of emotions. I'm happy because I get to see all of my friends again. I'm excited for the new friendships I will make and for what the new school year will bring. I'm sad because its the end of yet another summer, with only one more summer before I officially graduate high school. I'm nervous because I'm about to start the IB and I've heard of the horrors from my older friends in school.

I haven't finished any of my homework yet. I start them, but then get bored so I switch to a more interesting thing to do. But I only have fewer than 11 days to do it because I'm going to Batam soon.
For those who do not know, Batam is a small island of Indonesia near Singapore. We're taking a flight to Singapore, then a one hour and 10 minute ferry to Batam. Its only for a weekend because my dad is loaded with meetings and work so I'm thankful that he can take this weekend and a day to go to Batam with us.

Little less about Harry Potter, little more about me.

Hey it's been a while. I've just been so busy nowadays that I often forget to post. But here I am now!
Whats going on in my life:
1. Tv Shows: I've stopped watching House M.D. because I got bored. It was always the same: sick person, wrong initial diagnosis, eureka moment, people survive. I moved on to Vampire Diaries and finished the whole series, waiting for the next one. And now I'm on One Tree Hill which is pretty cool. My favourite character is Lukas Scott played by Chad Michael Murray, but I hear he leaves the show after season six and thats pretty disappointing.
2. Studies: I'm studying in the mornings everyday which includes all of my summer homework and SAT practice. My essays were terrible in the beginning but they are improving and I'm quite proud of that.
3. Trips: I've been to Singapore TWICE. Two consecutive weekends, the second trip was an emergency (everything is okay). I got the chance to do some proper biking at East Coast Park. I wanted to go wakeboarding but I fell sick so I didn't get the chance to go. :( The second trip was also the reason why I had to cancel my first guitar lesson. So I have to wait another week to finally be able to learn the guitar. I do believe I'm improving. Strumming is better and I'm learning from my mistakes.

Day 3: Your least favourite female character

Probably Pansy Parkinson (played by Scarlett Byrne) Her character annoyed me so much because it always reminded me of the people. I constantly refer to them as 'the people' (in my head of course). Them? The people who always laugh at you and mock you and are cruel and mean. You can't really remember who is part of the crowd that mocks you and who isn't but Pansy was always a background character that you don't really pay attention to but because you hear what they said, you know what the public image of the character is.

Apologies again for the late post, I've been kind of busy lately, so I shall keep posting!

Day 2: Your favourite female character

My favourite female character is Helena Bonham Carter FORSUREE. Bellatrix Lestrange is probably my most favourite female character of all time. She knows what she wants, she goes and gets it. Helena Bonham Carter played her character so well that I was waiting for her to come up on screen. I heard somewhere though that Emma Watson helped her get the characterisation straight so some credit goes to her but ultimately it was HBC who did it on screen :)

Day 1: Favourite Harry Potter Book & Movie all the time

Ahh. This one is quite hard, I don't really have a favourite Harry Potter Book and Movie. I have a favourite book, and a favourite movie but they are not the same.

Favourite Harry Potter Book: Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire

Favourite Harry Potter Movie: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

I don't know why but these two are the two that I've always liked. Probably because of the plot and the way J.K. Rowling/ Director portrayed it.

Diversion from the 30 day Harry Potter Post

1. If you went to Hogwarts which house would you be sorted in?

Ahh this is difficult. I can't quite choose.

Gryffindor because its what values bravery and loyalty and I value those too. Slytherin because well, Tom Felton was playing Draco Malfoy and he was in Slytherin but I've always admired their cunning. Ravenclaw for their brains and cleverness. And Hufflepuff for taking in everyone they got.

2. Have you ever been to the HP midnight release?No, sadly no. My obsession began only after all the books were released.

3. What did you think of the Deathly Hallows?
Book or movie? 

Book: Amazingg. I read it in three hours over two days after school and after I was done with all of my homework.

Movie 1: Amazing. I was getting disappointed with the quality of the last few but this pulled it up.

Movie 2: I did not like it at all.

4. How many times have you reread the books?Oh god, I don't know. I've lost count.

5. Whose death was the saddest?Fred :(

6. If you went to Hogwarts would you rather have an owl, a cat, or a rat?Owl :) I'd like the magical equivalent of a cellphone.

7. What do you think of the movie Half-Blood Prince?
It was one of the better movies in the whole series.

They did it to include all the details but they still left out a lot.

Not yet.

10. When did you first become a Potter fan?Ah. Well I first read the Order of the Phoenix when I was in grade 3 but I didn't really understand it. A year later, I was hooked.

Forever

It's been forever since I last posted properly! I have no excuses this time, I have to start writing more!
A lot has happened since my post on Saturday as well. I lost one of my best friends. She wasn't really lost but we've been arguing for a while so we decided to just back off from each other completely. I'm not distressed too much, but I still do feel sad. Night time is probably the worst. When I go to bed, its when I can't talk to my friends or watch house to distract me. Its when all the thoughts I'm pushing away comes back and everything really hits me. I'm dealing with it I guess. My friends are there for me but even though I know they would help me, its quite hard for them to do so. The best they can do is distract me, but I have to think these thoughts eventually so I might as well do it now so my summer isn't totally ruined. I also don't want to bother them too much. Its something I should deal with not them so I don't tell them everything on my mind.

Now on to less depressing topics!

It's been a while..

Yes I agree it's been a while since I've made my last blogpost but I've had a lot going on.
1. Nayati has been found! I meant to post but I never got around to publishing it so I guess it's too late to.
2. I got a new iPod about the time of MYMUN, more on that later. I'm just found the blogger app on the AppStore so I've downloaded it and this is a test run!
3. Exams are over(finally) and summer officially began on Thursday 11:50. A lot of my friends are leaving and do I'll put up another depressing post soon.
4. I'm getting a guitar! I'm so excited that I want to go get it now, but my dad prefers taking this slow and steady so in quite impatient. I'm finally going to be able to produce music. Finally. So excited!

A lot of my my friends are going away for the summer: Spain, England, South Korea, America, Australia, Singapore. I'm going to Singapore and probably Bali and I hope I can go diving!

KLMUN 2012

This weekend is KLMUN 2012 at Garden International School!

There are quite a few delegations that I want to talk about. (I'll blog more tomorrow night) I thought that the Delegate of Senegal was really quiet and knows a lot of information but prefers not to speak. He’s really nice and should be braver about speaking to his friend. The Delegate of Hungary was nervous but spoke so I was glad. I don’t really know him that well; he seems nice. He’s quite reserved. The Delegate of Germany could have and should have been main submitter. He has a cool watch and Harry Potter handwriting. We make faces at each other during the debate when we think something is strange or funny. The Delegate of United Kingdom: Her handwriting is so perfect oh my god. Like Kelly Mizuno (the art of Kelligraphy haha). The Delegate of Slovakia is also UK’s twin! Its so cool how they sometimes complete each other’s sentences. She knows so much information but acts like she doesn’t. The Delegate of Belgium is the only one younger than me in my group but she’s nice and she knows a lot for her age. She should speak more and not be as shy. The Delegate of Canada is Arthur’s friend but I don’t really like him as he ditched us for a while and then came back. So confusing. The Delegate of Japan is bound to get a superlative. Talks so much and keeps referring to Greece during his speeches as the Delegate of Greece as it is my fault. He seems nicer now though. The Delegate of United States of America is my friend! Always seems to be in a battle with Japan though so its quite hilarious. She main submitted so its good. I haven’t really talked to the Delegate of Peru. Well not at all but he reminds me of Lennie from Of mice and men. Really tall and broad, you’d expect him to have a loud voice but he doesn’t. Hes like a mouse. He’s Indian and he speaks in such an Indian way and hes so scared that I feel so bad for him.

La Science de la Vie

So it's my second consecutive post about science. One thing I've never actually said on my blog but a million times in school is how much I love science. Love cannot express it enough. In french, biology is called La Science de la vie - the science of life. When I read books and lessons on biology (my favourite science though I like all others) it fascinates me. Biology is so poetic. One of the characteristics that define life is Ordered Complexity. It all sounds incredibly poetic. 

What I love about biology is that when I walk outside and see a particular item, I know how it works. The grass and the trees thrive on photosynthesis, people breathing, hearts pounding. Knowing it all makes me feel incredibly alive. Theres more to life than what meets the eye. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING in my world and yours is happening because of technological advancement. Cars, buildings, roads, nature, food, electricity. Everything. That is what I see when I look outside. I know that Man has done a lot of harm to the earth, but I would also like to point out that his achievements are truly great. I'm not saying that I'd do anything for technological advancement; I'm saying that Man is not a curse, he brings good as well. I hope that I ultimately bring good to the world as well.

NASA Space Lab

What is the NASA Space Lab? A collaboration between You Tube and NASA; where teens between the ages of 14 and 18 think up of ideas and make an experiment, or at least an idea for an experiment. Once they do so, they have to make a 2 minute presentation that explains their idea. Each team (of up to three) can send in three ideas for each component: the physics and the biological component. My friends Ritika, Kelly and I are participating in the next round.

I am so excited! One of the judges happens to be Stephen Hawking. Can you even believe it? Stephen Hawking will probably see me speaking and my idea for the experiment! Even if I don't want to be an Astronaut, I still want to participate to see if I can win, to see how far I can go.

Somethings frustrate me.

I don't know if it is all in my head of if it is really happening but I feel like something's changed. At first I thought it was the other person but now its happening with everyone I know so now I feel like it's me who has changed. Only I don't think that I have changed in anyway. Everyone around me in school is beginning to sound condescending. I would like to point out that I am not stupid, there is no need to talk like you expect me to make a mistake. I know what I'm doing, but thank you for pointing it out. Speak to me properly, the same way you would expect to be spoken to. I can understand and I do understand. If you carry on doing so, you will end up driving me away. And if it happens, don't pretend like it's my fault it happened.

Some other thing that frustrates me - my teachers. When they ask a question, I answer it. It's expected. However, every time I answer something, they look over my head and wait till someone else says the right answer, my answer. I understand if they want to give others a chance but only if they gave me one in the first place! It started with my science teacher, then it progressed on to my math teacher, and now my french teacher. I just wish that they would give me a chance to say something instead of ignoring me.

I know I might be overreacting but I just needed to get it all out there.

Yeah well, it's been a while...

I know, I know its been a long time since I last posted; 4 months to be exact. Theres a lot thats been going on, its been hard to get the time to actually come back on my blog and all.
Here's what I've been doing since THIMUN Singapore:

1. Winter break- I was in India and limited internet so writing blog entries was out of the question.
2. Exams- Do I even have to explain? Why did we have exams at that point anyway?
3. My grades!- they were terrible and I'm so ashamed :( It's also why I have less computer time, I need to get my grades back up!

Sorry for the short post. I have to get back to work.
I feel so out of touch.
